U10 Red win close game at home to Thrybergh & Dalton

The second of this week's home game double saw Thrybergh & Dalton visit the Caribbean Club for the first time.

A very healthy crowd watched a hard fought game between two evenly matched sides in the midtable and with a bit more luck, Thrybergh & Dalton could have sneaked a draw in this one.

The game kicked off with the Spartans kicking down the slope and this seemed to suit the boys as they strung together some neat passing moves through midfield and carved open some good chances early on. Midway through the first half the Spartans opened the scoring after the Thrybergh & Dalton goalkeeper spilled the ball and Dale fired home the loose ball. This same scenario nearly cost Thrybergh & Dalton soon after but the ball was cleared. The Spartans were continuing to cause problems for Thrybergh & Dalton and it was soon 2-0 as a high ball was played to the back post and again the goalkeeper spilled it, this time into the path of Rio who bundled it home. There was some qesution as to wether the ball had indeed gone in, but the goal stood. This seemed to spur Thrybergh & Dalton on and they created one or two chances before half time.

The second half was nearly a repeat of the first to begin with, with the SPartans putting together some neat passing a Thrybergh & Dalton being dangerous on the break. They forced a number of corners and on another day, could have score two or three. However it was the Spartans who extended their lead as Logan P finished off a neat move at the other end. Thrybergh & Dalton did have a great weapon which was their goalkeepers kicks and this nearly gave Thrybergh & Dalton an opening as they forced a goalkick after a clearance by the goalkeeper - the Spartans defenders were asleep as Jack kicked it to them, leaving him stranded on the edge of his box as the Thrybergh & Dalton stiker shot - but he pulled off a fantastic right handed save to turn it out for a corner. The scoring was completed near the end as another long kick fell to Thrybergh & Dalton and they broke clear and the striker slipped the ball under Jack as he slid out to try and block.

Final score 3-1 and a pleasing win with some good performances.
