Opening day defeat for U10 Red

Posted by admin on September 10, 2013

With the change in structure for our U10 teams this season, each teams result is the final score. The Black and Red teams are also in different divisions.

A 10 o'clock kick off on  a sunny but chilly morning on Sunday 8th Septemebr sees the Spartans kick off in their first game of the season.
The Spartans make a good start with some really good passing. They then soak up the pressure with the defence doing their job well as the Valley Knights start to press with the downward slope giving them the advantage.
Rio hits the post with a good effort and is unlucky to not open the scoring. Shortly after the Valley Knights fire narrowly wide.
A brilliant half volley from outside the area flies into the Spartans net leaving JB and the defence no chance, a great goal to open the scoring from the Valley Knights, 1-0 to the Valley Knights.
The start of the second half see's the Valley Knights kick off.
There is some good pressure from the Spartans searching for that 1st goal of the season and equaliser, this spell of pressure leads to at least 5 corners in a row, but no goal.
Dale has a shot that is narrowly wide for the Spartans.
A brave move from Ali see's JD thrown up front as striker in a quest to secure an equaliser. Morgan leaves his usual position of Left Midfield to cover in defense for JD.
There is some good pressure from the Spartans towards the end of the game but the ball just wont go in the net.
The game ends 1-0 to the Valley Knights, on another day it may have been 4 or 5 - 1 but the Valley Knights managed to hold on to their first half lead. Perhaps a fairer score line would have seen a draw and at least a point for the Spartans.
A great first game for the lads, they played well and battled hard and were unlucky to lose a very evenly sided game.
