Good game against Thorncliffe

Posted by admin on July 16, 2012

The Spartans visited neighbours for a pre-season friendly against a team that will be in the same division next season.

Unfortunately the grass length on the pitch in place meant the the boys faced a fitness test as well as a test of skills.

The Spartans and Thorncliffe both fielded a couple of trial players with some good play all round.

Game one was quite one sided in terms of posession with the Spartans having the lions share - James in goal touched the ball twice! The Spartans ran out 3-0 winners.

Game two was a much closer affair, with Thorncliffe winning the first half in terms of possesion as well as goals 1-0 at half time. However, there were good signs. All the Spartans had to do was play how they knew to and good things would happen. And sure enough, two goals from good movement and passing meant the Spartans ran out 5-1 winners at the end of a very friendly friendly.

Good luck to Thorncliffe for the coming season, the two league games to come this season will no doubt be closer than this friendly.
