Final home game ends in a draw

Posted by admin on March 27, 2012

The boys played out a hard fought draw in what was their final game of this eventful season.

Having not met our opponents since well before Christmas we did not really know what to expect. What we got were two teams who wanted to play attacking football and enjoy the game.

In a switch from previous weeks Team Two (black) played first and what a tight game it was. The Spartans trying to implement the passing game that they've been working on in training and their opponents trying to stop them and catch the Spartans on the break. The game finished with the Spartans with a slender lead. It should really have been a bigger lead but the opposition goalie had one of those games.

Game two was equally tight in the first half, however, the second half was a totally different game. Pressure from the Spartans should have brought a hatful of goals, but a mixture of great goalkeeping and the goal frame on at least six occasions kep the Spartans to a single goal. However, two errors from the Spartans cost them the win and meant a draw for the team.

Overall a great performance and it shows how far the team have come this season.
