Close call - but another win

Posted by admin on September 25, 2012

This game could have easily been won by the visitors, Whiston Wildcats, but thankfully the new found winning streak continued with a very close 6-5 victory.

Game one was one that many of the team would like to forget. The opening goal coming from the Whiston right with a ong shot that went well over James in the goal and dipped right at the end - great goal, no chance for the goalie. After that it was a case of mistakes by the Spartans being punished by a well organised WIldcats team with five goals against and only two in reply from the Spartans from Kieren and Rmaraye which kept the tie alive for the second game.

Half time 2-5

Game two was much better, and could have been a much bigger scoreline. Jack Moore-Billam roamed the right side and in the first half alone hit the bar and the post. Alfie and Sam ran their socks off and the Spartans had much the better of the game. Pav was solid in defence with his usual partner missing. Eventually Jack scored two (and missed another after rounding the goalie and leaving himself an open net!), Alfie got on the scoresheet with a cross/shot and Logan Pearce chipped in with another.

The Spartans struggled somewhat during the game coming to terms with what the Manager is asking them to do, but by the end were nearly there. It might take a few weeks of training, but this will be a very ggod team very soon.

The final score 6-5.
