U10 Red win close game at home to Thrybergh & Dalton

The second of this week's home game double saw Thrybergh & Dalton visit the Caribbean Club for the first time.

A very healthy crowd watched a hard fought game between two evenly matched sides in the midtable and with a bit more luck, Thrybergh & Dalton could have sneaked a draw in this one.

A pleasant Sunday morning saw the U10 Black team at home to Hallamshire Boys in the return fixture for this season. The first game away had seen the boys enjoy a comfortable 0-9 win so hopes were high for a repeat.

The League have today the following email:

"Our regular ref was unable to do our game last weekend so we did the usual and took to twitter to beg and plead for somebody to step in. I received a phone call at 18.00 on Saturday night from Simon Rodgers who agreed to come and ref our Sunday morning 10.00 kick off.

He arrived at our ground at 9.30 and introduced himself to everybody. By the time the game kicked off he had already memorised all of the players names! Something we still struggle with :-) Players, parents and coaches from both teams were very happy with the manner in which he ref'd the game. He allowed the game to flow and gave praise to all players and explained his decisions to them, helping them understand and learn in the process.

We would like to give a big thanks to Simon and he is definitely welcome back in the future.

This game was switched midweek from Maltby's ground to the Spartans training facility due to the constant rain of recent weeks. While most team had a day off, this match survived and the Spartans ran up a big win against a mid-table team having a bad day.

U10 Reds lose at home to league leaders

Sunday 16th February, 2014 saw the Spartans Red team play only their second game of the year. To ensure that the game went ahead during this somewhat unusual period of weather, the all weather 3g training pitch was booked for the game.
The Spartans were to greet Tusaale United for the third time this season, the Spartans losing out twice before in two hard fought games. Could this prove to be third time lucky?

The Spartans get the game underway for a 12.30 kick off away to Wickersley on a cold Sunday, January 5th, 2014 for their first game of the year. The Spartans start off looking very rusty with the cold and Christmas break seeming to affect the players state of mind as well as footballing ability.

U10 Black win away at Manton despite slow start

Posted by admin on December 15, 2013

A lovely sunny winter morning saw the SPartans visit Manton for the fist of this seasons return matches.

The Spartans had won the home game 10-0 so hope were high of another high scoring game after last weeks strong win. However, Manton are a different prospect on their home turf, as the small pitch allows them to play a strong pressing game that does not allow the other team time on the ball.

As the game kicked-off it was clear the Spartans were not going to have this game their own way, Manton pressed straight away and forced the boys back into their own area and only a smart save to his left (putting the ball out for a corner) from James kept the scores level. From the resulting corner chaos ensued, but the boys cleared well.

A 10am kick off for the Spartans against Valley Knights. The Spartans line up with JB in the net, William and JD in defence with Logan H, Morgan and Rio in the middle and Dale in the strikers role. The Spartans kick off to get the game underway and straight away take the game to their opponents passing the ball well, defending strongly and getting some good crosses into the danger area.

U10 Black enjoy an away day win at Hallamshire Boys

Posted by admin on December 3, 2013

An early start on a pleasant December morning and the Spartans paid a visit to yet another new venue.

Hallamshire Boys are similar to the Spartans, being a new club on the scene, and with a plan to play good football.

The pitch was probably the biggest the boys have ever played on and for the first few minutes this caused a few issues as the boys got accustomed to the size. The did however try to play the right way, passing around the wide open spaces.
