Dealing with the weather!

This has been a season of unseasonably wet weather! Usually february and March are the months where games are postponed, but this season, we’ve been cancelling games regularly since September!

This means that we’ll be playing games till the end of April.

U9s report

A amazing display in the first half from the Spartans was enough to grab the win yesterday, fantastic football and team goals, and one absolutely incredible goal from spartans left winger.
Second half of the game Hilsborough started a amazing fight back and showed amazing spirit to bring the game back to as close as it finished, but the Spartans held on for the win through sheer fight and determination.

Overall a really good game of football to watch and played in amazing spirit. Such a joy to be apart of.

U11’s

What a great day of grassroots football today.
Arrived at our game away at ecclesfield Spartans u11s at 9:30 for ref to call the game due to waterlogged pitch.
Not to be beat by the weather all parents and coaches agreed to make the 30 mile round trip en masse over to our ground at laughton to get the game on.

Big thanks to Kevin Fordham for a massive favour and reffing at short notice.

Players put on a great game.

But biggest praise for both sets of parents who worked brilliantly together to make it happen as without you we have no teams

Well done everyone

U8’s

Spartans Under 8s travelled to Eckington Boys Blue with only 10 players for a double team fixture, after a tough first game they narrowly lost the second. Every player played 40 mins and they worked so hard. Well done boys 👏👏👏👏

U9’s

Ours 9s made it back to back wins yesterday, after a fantastic performance Friday evening the boys kept up the tempo in horrible conditions to grab another win. The team have worked extremely hard in training recently and things are starting to show now on the pitch all though conditions made the game a little difficult, the team gave 100%

Pitch was shortened during the second game to protect the pitch and unfortunately at half time in the second game it was agreed between referee and managers that the game was to be abandoned for the safety of the players and protection of the pitch.

Well done âš½ï¸ðŸ‘ðŸ»

U10 Red enjoy their latest tournament

Another cracking day (could get used to this sunshine and grassroots footy) 15 u10’s teams took to the SGP Graves tournament this afternoon… all grafted in this heat and regardless of position left smiling!

Massive well done to Handsworth JFC taking the trophy in the final all the way to penalties against Ecclesfield Spartans! Bravely played and great sportsmanship from both teams.
